The 2021 Ford Escape combines lively performance with a spacious interior and user-friendly features and technology.

Drivers in Chester, Clifton Heights, and Brookhaven can learn more about the new Escape with this in-depth 2021 Ford Escape Review from Murphy Ford.

Escape Performance

The Escape arrives with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that generates 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. The optional engine is a 250-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder that generates 280 lb-ft of torque. This engine is standard for the Titanium model. Both engines use a sharp-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission.

Rounding out the engine's power, the Escape handles like a dream and tackles curves and turns with ease. The ride quality is smooth and ensures passengers won't be bothered, even over rough road surfaces. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional for more traction in inclement weather. The Escape is rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.

Escape Cabin Space and Comfort

With its two rows of seats, the Escape can seat up to five people. Both the front and rear seats have an abundance of headroom and legroom, and the rear seats can slide back and forward for additional passenger or cargo space. Cloth upholstery arrives standard, but you can upgrade interior comfort with leather upholstery, heated seats, and a heated steering wheel.

With the seats upright, you can slide the second-row seats to create 33.5 cubic feet or 37.5 cubic feet of space in the cargo hold. With the seats folded flat, that space expands to 65.4 cubic feet of space, which is one of the top cargo capacities in the class.

Escape Technology and Safety

The Escape offers the available SYNC® 3 infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen for entertainment and connectivity on the go. The system is known for its intuitive interface and responsive touch inputs. Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® are also available, which allow you to stream music or media through your car's onboard system. Satellite radio, Bang & Olufsen premium sound, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and navigation are optional.

Several safety features are standard for the Escape, including a rearview camera and automatic emergency braking. A forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking is included, which alerts you to impending collisions and applies the brakes automatically. Another standard feature is blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a feature that warns you if there's a vehicle or pedestrian in your path when backing up or changing lanes. Several advanced safety systems are optional, such as a traffic jam assist for crowded city streets, lane centering for highway travel, park assist, and rear parking sensors.
